Orange Yuzu Chicken

A Sweet And Tangy Twist To Our Favorite Chicken Karaage: Tokyo Tokyo’s Orange Yuzu Chicken

I love Tokyo Tokyo and I am glad that I got a reason to try their newest offering when my sister went to the mall. She wanted to have their Maki but I told her to try the California Baked Maki instead. It wasn’t new but at least more people can enjoy it. Also, so that I can review it. Haha.

It’s already been a while since the Sushi Bake craze has ended and I am just trying it now because why not?

Cheesy California Crunch Sushi Bake – their version of the famous sushi bake. It indeed tastes good but there’s not enough mayo, crab meat, mangoes, and it wasn’t even “cheesier” as they claimed it to be. It wasn’t even cheesy for me but I love the crispy tempura flakes that come with it since it added texture to the Baked Sushi.

I would like this better if “hindi sana tinipid yung ingredients”.

We also didn’t like their nori sheets. It wasn’t crispy like the ones we can buy in the supermarkets. Good thing we have leftover nori sheets in the house and we used them instead.

Aside from this, they also have Salmon Teriyaki Sushi Bake which costs Php 560.

Price: Php 360
Table for: 3-4 persons
Food Rating: 3/5

Orange Yuzu Chicken – ordered their a la carte with 6 piece chicken karaage. I love their vegetable misono but I was disappointed that the serving was too few.

The Orange Yuzu Chicken was their original chicken karaage glazed with a sweet and tangy Orange yuzu sauce. The first few bites were good but I find the orange yuzu sauce a bit weird and it becomes a bit sweeter and sweeter as I continue to dig in. “Medyo nakakaumay yung tamis.”

Also, I find it a bit weird that the orange yuzu flavor somehow reminds me of the orange air freshener in the car. Maybe that’s just me but that’s how I felt while eating this. Well, I don’t actually like that smell so, maybe that’s another reason why I am not a fan of this. I love orange chicken but not this one.

Since I had this for take out, the chicken karaage was not crispy so, no crisp test for me.

On the other hand, I know a lot of friends who like this so, you might still want to try it for yourself.

Price: Php 220
Table for: 1
Food Rating: 3/5

They also offer 3 piece chicken karaage, and just like their other offerings, you can get this in bento box which is complete with rice, vegetable misono,  miso soup, dessert, and iced tea for Php 230 and Php 290 for their 6 piece chicken karaage.

Overall, I didn’t like their new offerings that much but I can say that it is still something worth trying.
