Shake Shack Experience in Hong Kong: What to Expect in Manila?

Shake Shack Location in Central Square, Bonifacio Global City, Taguig City

Shake Shack is a well-known fast-casual restaurant chain in New York City, which started as a hotdog cart in Madison Square Park in Manhattan in 2001 and opened its permanent kiosk in 2004. “The rest, as they say, is burger history”.

From NYC to Hong Kong now, in Manila

Entrance to Shake Shack’s very own elevator. Also, they have a menu displayed inside their elevator!

We were lucky to be able to try this place in Hong Kong before it was announced that they will be opening their first store here in Manila, in Central Square to be exact.

So, what are the things that we can expect from Shake Shack?

1. They serve chicken burgers, hot dogs, fries, milkshakes, and sodas. Expect their burgers to be delicious.
2. Expect a long line especially on its first day here in the Philippines.
3. Their frozen custards are a must-try.
4. They also have beers and wine. Yay! This might mean another delicious burger place with booze!

Important facts about Shake Shack:

1. They work with the best ranchers, farmers, and bakers to source premium local ingredients. So, we can expect high-quality food with all natural ingredients.
2. Their beef and chicken are 100% natural with no added hormones or antibiotics.
3. Their Angus beef are vegetarian fed and humanely raised.
4. Food is all served on a non-GMO potato bun.
5. Their vanilla and chocolate frozen custard are made with real sugar, no corn syrup and milk from dairy farmers who does not use artificial growth hormones.
6. They have a mobile ordering application, called Shack App, where you can order ahead and cut the line! Just place your order using the app and pick it up on their counter, once you received a message confirming that your order was ready. And yes, we also wondered if that app will be available here in the Philippines since it is on selected Shacks only so, let’s wait and see if the Philippines is included.

People are already lining up outside. Geez.

Our verdict on their food? It’s one of the best! Here are the food items we were able to try:

P.S. Their concretes are specifically tailored and created for each Shack location. We are hoping that they would bring this one here! With strawberries, perhaps? Yum!

Cream Soda – this is not a typical drink we can see in most of the restaurants here in the Philippines. But hey, they should bring this one too!

Other menu items in their Hong Kong branch are the following:

For their drinks, they have ShackMeister® Ale Made which was brewed exclusively by Brooklyn Brewery which costs HKD 68 for a 16 oz. drink. They also have the Shack Red® and Shack White® by Gotham Project, which was specifically hand-picked to complement their menu.

They have a Hong Kong exclusive item which is the Milk Tea Shake. A vanilla frozen custard blended with black tea for a Shack-style version. Should we also expect a Philippine exclusive item? Definitely!

Excited now? We are too!
