Mei Sum Tea House

Intramuros-Binondo Trip Part 3

We continued on our Binondo trip and headed onto Eng Bee Tin’s Flagship Store to buy my favorite Pork Floss Hopia to take home. Passing by their store, I saw that there’s an available Lava Pao in the steamer so, I decided to try it.

Lava Pao – a salted egg yolk custard bun.

I find it a bit expensive for its size, it was too small. One is not enough because it was that delicious!

After that, we head on to our journey of finding that one restaurant that we haven’t tried before. While walking, we ended up to the place we already went to the 2nd time we went on a Binondo food trip (this is the 3rd time with my friend, BTW). We got attracted to the dim sum displayed outside Mei Sum Tea House.  I can still remember this place and I know that the staff here are not welcoming. They are all “masungit”. But we have decided to give it another shot despite remembering that the only delicious food here is the kikiam and the fried wanton.

Okay, I saw the Asado Puff outside and it looks delicious because its top part is color yellow.

We learned that the yellow part was actually salted egg, interesting. Compared to the regular-sized siopao, this is small for its price. But okay, let’s give some credit to its uniqueness. You should try this.

Price: Php 36
Table for: 1
Food Rating: 4/5

I would actually rate this 5/5 if only its size is bigger to get the full value of my money.

The Siomai (again) is still the same as what we remember.  Fairly good.

And the Hakaw is also still the same. It was delicious but the wrapper was too thick. We also waited for 20 minutes for this. Good thing that the staff assisting us with our order is very friendly. She is the only friendly person in this restaurant.

Overal, my opinion with Mei Sum Tea House is still the same. The food is not bad but not extraordinary as well. There’s a lot of restaurant in Binondo that you should be trying aside from this.

If you are craving for dim sum, you might as well go to Wai Ying Restaurant. They serve really delicious and authentic dim sum there.
