Haruman Cafe Review

Fan Girl And Work/Study At This BTS-Themed Cafe in Makati

Went to Haruman Cafe with my sister and her friends before they start working at around 11:30 am and to our surprise, the cafe was closed. We tried contacting them on their social media accounts and even tried calling them on the phone number listed on their Facebook page. We just waited since there was no announcement that their cafe will be closed that day. After around 30 minutes of waiting, the owners arrived (we think they are the owners) and apologized. She explained that they had an emergency and were not able to announce that they will be opening a bit later at 1 pm. It was already 12nn and we decided that we will just wait for them to open. So, make sure to check their social media accounts for updates on their store hours or contact them to make sure that they are open especially if you are coming from a far place.

Haruman Cafe

Anyway, there’s a Filipino-Korean-Japanese Mart beside Haruman Cafe which you can visit too. They were currently on soft opening at the time we went so there were only a few Korean food and Korean merch available. They have a few BTS official merchandise too!

The cafe was cozy, and minimalist. We love its interior. It was silently screaming BTS and feels like even non-Armys can visit and enjoy their cafe. They have books displayed around the cafe which you can borrow to read. The tables and chairs were made to make you feel comfortable while dining, chitchatting with your friends, reading a good book, or even working your ass off to buy that BTS merch you’ve always wanted. 😅 Definitely, a nice place to hang out for coffee enthusiasts!

Their menu is limited to drinks, sandwiches, and a few desserts only. So, here’s what we had:

Grilled Cheese and Chips

Their sandwiches were pre-made and displayed on the counter. Simple but tastes good and filling.

Ham, Egg, and Cheese Sandwich

Another simple yet filling sandwich.

Aside from these 2 sandwiches, they also have Tuna Club but it wasn’t available at that time.

Potato Wedges

Crispy potato wedges served with garlic cream cheese dip. We love the crispy potato wedges as is, even without the dip. The dip is a bit more on the sweet side which we didn’t like that much. We prefer a more garlicky, more salty than sweet, yet creamy dip.

I wasn’t able to take a solo photo of it but it was in this photo.😅

Banana Nutella Croffle

Originally, we wanted to try their Strawberry Croffle but unfortunately, everything with strawberries was sold out at that time. The only available flavor is this Banana Nutella Croffle and Muscovado & Chocolate Syrup.  As much as we wanted to avoid the chocolate, we don’t have a choice. Haha.

Banana Nutella Croffle

The croffles were crunchy yet soft, the way we like it! Though we find it too sweet because of the Nutella. If you’re a fan of Nutella, go for this! Or if you don’t want your croffles to be too chocolatey sweet, ask them to lessen the Nutella or maybe ask them to serve it separately so you can control how much you put into your croffles.

This was definitely good but too sweet to our liking.

Tiramisu

Ordered this since it was listed on their must-try list. Also, we saw the photo and it looks deliciously big.

Tiramisu
Definitely made for the gram!

The serving was definitely big enough to be enjoyed by 2 or 3 people. It tastes good but I find it too bitter. The broas dipped in coffee were too bitter for our liking. Maybe it is also because I ordered a sweet drink rather than coffee. I think coffee lovers would like this with its strong coffee taste. As for me, the coffee flavor was too strong that it does not give balance to its overall taste. Love the cocoa powder on top but again, it was overpowered by coffee.

Galaxy Lemonade

One of their best-selling drinks and also, it’s purple!

Galaxy Lemonade

The drink was made with Chilsung Cider, lemons, and what I think is a butterfly pea. I am guessing that it’s what makes it purple. In any case, all we can taste here is the lemon, the flavor was too harsh and too sour. I think they overdid it when squeezing the lemon as you can also taste the bitter flavor of its skin.

Matcha Vanilla Soy Latte

Though the matcha was not as strong as I’d usually want it to be and not as creamy since they used soy milk, this tastes good! It was light yet the matcha was there and I like it.

Went here with some friends and they ordered coffee and rated it 5/5. They said it tastes good!

Aside from these they also serve lattes like Iced Dalgona Latte which I wanted to order but decided to go with my usual matcha drink. Hehe. Their best-selling coffee includes Hazelnut Latte, Caramel Macchiato, Dirty Butterscotch, and Java Chips Frappe. If you want to go for caffeine-free drinks, they have Mixed Berries, Butterscotch Candy Latte, and  Iced Green Apple Soda. For food, we basically ordered everything except for their Triple Chocolate Brownies which you can also buy a la mode and cookies. They are also offering bento cakes which you can buy in-store if available or order ahead of time just to be sure.

Must Visit Cafe in Makati

Overall Rating

Haruman Cafe is definitely, the coziest BTS-themed cafe in Metro Manila that wasn’t screaming BTS all over the place. Even non-Armys are welcome here to enjoy a good cup of coffee and desserts. I must say that cafe enthusiasts must visit this cafe too. Very minimalist interior design, small yet spacious. A perfect place to hang out with your friends, enjoy a good cup of coffee, read a book, or maybe work here. One of my sister’s friends who loves cafe hopping said that this was on her A list and she enjoyed their cafe too, and yup, she isn’t a BTS fan.

BTS Cafe in Manila

Food is a bit limited to sandwiches, pastries, and desserts so I would suggest going here after lunch. The sandwich can make you full since it’s the usual size but again they don’t offer pasta or rice dishes. Our favorite was the croffles, matcha vanilla soy latte, and coffee.

If I would come back? Definitely yes, if I am looking for a work-friendly cafe in Makati but before I go, I would make sure that I already ate lunch! Or maybe bring some non-Army friends who love coffee.

Army Events

Since their cafe is small, I haven’t seen them post about private Army Events but they do have Cupsleeves Kits to celebrate BTS members’ birthdays and have Bento Cakes. They offer Bento Cakes which depends on its availability. If you want to be sure, you can pre-order their Bento Cakes by messaging them or filling out their pre-order form which can be found on the social media accounts of Haruman Cafe.
