4 Must-Try Bites In Binondo For You Next Food Trip

While change is inevitable, Binondo holds onto its culinary heritage with pride. On this Binondo food trip, we embarked on a delicious adventure, savoring both classics that have stood the test of time and new bites that tantalized our taste buds.

If you want to make your Binondo Food Trip into a little staycation as we did, check in at one of the hotels in Binondo. For us, we checked in at Hotel Lucky Chinatown which is located just beside the Lucky Chinatown Mall where you can already find lots of the classic and new food finds in Binondo. This way, you can start your Binondo Food trip early and savor the endless possibilities until late at night.

At Lucky Chinatown Mall, you can enjoy lots of classic Binondo favorites at the Walk Street Kitchen like Wai Ying, Sincerity Chicken, Masuki, and a lot more!

San Guo La Mien

San Guo La Mien is a popular restaurant in Binondo that serves traditional Chinese hand-pulled noodles. They make the noodles fresh every day and are served in a variety of soups and broths. You can also see them making the noodles fresh every day!

Here are some of the bestsellers that we ordered.

Kan Pan Lamien

Hand-pulled noodles with vegetables, big chunks of tender beef, and savory broth. Tastes good but were looking for more flavor since it was saucy.

Price: Php 350
Table for: 1-2 persons
Food Rating: 3.5/5

Spicy Beef Lamien

San Guo La Mien’s Spicy Beef Lamien is a must-try! The broth is bursting with flavor and the perfect level of spice – not overwhelming, but enough for you to be able to taste all the layers of flavor! The beef is very tender too!

Price: Php 320

We were intrigued by the canned Chinese gulaman, so we tried it for Php 50. While it delivers on the gulaman taste, something about it fell a little short but still something nice to have with together with the noodles.

Share your favorite noodles from them para yun naman ang i-try natin next time! 🍲 #SanGuoLaMien #binondofoodtrip #foodietokph ♬ Yes or No – Jung Kook

Beanstro Coffee

Beanstro Coffee is the first street coffee in Binondo. It instantly became a popular spot for coffee lovers looking for a quick and delicious caffeine fix when in Binondo. Known for its “street coffee” concept, offering affordable and freshly brewed coffee made with locally sourced beans. What makes them more interesting is their unique Filipino-inspired coffee creations while supporting local ice cream vendors in the area. They offer a secret menu depending on the availability of the ice cream flavors that manong sorbetero is offering.

Pinoy-Style Affogato

At the time we went, ube was the available ice cream flavor. First, you have to grab your Beanstro cup and head to manong sorbetero to have your cup filled with dirty ice cream. Then, return to get your coffee fix!

My friend got the Cacao Coffee with Ube Ice Cream.

The ice cream costs Php 50 while the Cacao Coffee costs Php 100.

Matcha Latte

As a matcha girl, of course, I had to get their Matcha Latte. While I usually prefer it hot, the weather demanded an iced version.

If you are exploring the world of matcha, this might be a good way to start it. It’s smooth and creamy. Tastes good but I always want my matcha with a strong bitter (lasang damo) flavor.

They also have Cacao Matcha which sounds super interesting too!

@teybolforwan_ Woke up early to have this first street coffee in Binondo! Pinoy-style Affogato – ice cream flavor depends on its availability. As a person na hindi masyadong mahilig sa kape, I like this. 👌 Masarap yung coffee base nila and I like this idea since it helps local vendors in the area. 🧡 Matcha – their matcha is more on the creamy side. Masarap but I want my matcha na super lasang damo so, this one is just okay for me. This is perfect if you want to try matcha but don’t want its super grassy flavor. Masarap yung milk na gamit nila. 👌 #beanstrocoffee #binondoeats #foodietokph ♬ original sound – tomlinsonchrry ☀️

Oishiekun Chinese Bites

Had this for breakfast! Located near the famous Toasted SiopaoThey also have a stall at the Lucky Chinatown Mall but if you’re going in the afternoon, you might not be able to buy the famous bicho-bicho donuts.

It was my first time trying out these donuts so, I just had to try everything from plain, with sugar, and with milk. What amazes me here the most is that you can see your donut freshly made, and cooked right in front of you. In here, you don’t have to line up like the other food stalls but instead, you have to order first, pay, and get your number. More organized as I must say plus, since you don’t have to line up, you have the liberty to stand and wait wherever you want, just don’t go too far and enjoy seeing your food being cooked.

@teybolforwan_ Gusto ko talaga yung street food donut na may gatas e at parang ganito yun! Siyempre pinaka fave ko yung with milk nila, then with sugar, at last yung plain. 🤭 Sarap! Don’t forget to include this on your Binondo food trip this Chinese New Year. #binondofoodtrip #foodietokph #chinesenewyear ♬ original sound – Masons View

Prices for each flavor differ:
Plain Bicho – Php 35
Sweet Bicho – Php 40
Milky Bicho – Php 60

As someone with a sweet tooth, I definitely love the sweet and milky bicho-bicho!

Binondo Bites

Saving the best for last? Binondo Bites’ Fried Xiao Long Bao lives up to every bit of the hype! Believe me, it’s no exaggeration. Now, if you’re not a patient waiter, the line might deter you (fair enough!). I myself don’t like lining up, but having friends along made it way more bearable. Plus, the wait became an opportunity for me to indulge in other Eng Bee Tin treats, win-win!

Fried Xiao Long Bao

The famous street sensation that changed the game for Xiao Long Bao! We opted for both their regular and spicy sauces. The spicy isn’t spicy at all. It has a sweet-savory balance that is addictive. I would highly recommend that you get their spicy sauce.

Pro tip: If you want to enjoy your food comfortably seated, pair it with other dishes from The Great Buddha Cafe.

Price: Php 125
Table for: 5 pcs
Food Rating: 5/5

Now, if you still want to try their Xiao Long Bao but don’t want to line up, you can do so by buying frozen at Eng Bee Tin. It won’t be the same since I think their sauce makes it truly special but at least you can enjoy it in the comfort of your home.

Lava Buchi

Eng Bee Tin’s Lava Buchi has been my favorite ever since so, you might as well grab one while you’re there!

Price: Php 160

@teybolforwan_ Got to try the famous Fried XLB in Binondo! Worth it nga ba? 🤔 Pro Tip: Enjoy your Fried XLB at The Great Buddha Cafe, just order any food or drinks there para hindi sa daan kumain and enjoy it while it’s still hot! 😋 #FriedXiaoLongBao #BinondoFoodTrip #foodietokph ♬ Good Days – SZA
