Top 3 Iloilo Food Trip Destinations

Top 3 Iloilo Food Trip Destinations

Going on an Iloilo food trip? Check out these delicious and authentic types of food that they offer — may it be La Paz Batchoy, Native Lechon Manok, Talaba, or Pancit Molo.

1. Madge Cafe – this ain’t your ordinary coffee shop with free wifi and convenient ambiance but they serve the best breakfast/merienda dishes, coffee, and milk tea. Yup! They have been serving milk tea even before it became popular in the Philippines. And I have been pairing it with their Oreo Cheesecake since I tried it way back in 2015.

Madge Cafe

Nai Cha Milk Tea – you can have this either hot or cold depending on your preference. The normal serving is half of the mug only but you can ask them for a full mug for Php 90. This is my kind of milk tea — freshly brewed and authentic!

Price: Php  45
Table for: 1
Food Rating: 5/5

Oreo Cheesecake – I can still remember the first time I tried this and it still tastes the same. A moist cheesecake that melts in your mouth! It’s not too sweet that’s why I can enjoy it even for breakfast. Even my friends who are not into cakes liked this.

Price: Php  120
Table for: 1
Food Rating: 5/5

This is one of the few times that I drink coffee just because ONE SHOULD NOT MISS IT HERE!

Media Regular – regular coffee with milk. The best freshly brewed native coffee in Iloilo (and the most popular too).

Madge Cafe

Aside from the regular coffee. they also have Media Cafe (strong coffee with milk), Media Tab-ang (mild coffee with milk), Media Puro (strong black coffee), Puro Regular (Regular Black Coffee), Puro Tab-ang (Mild Black Coffee), Cappuccino. Vanilla Latte, Choco Caliente and Plain Tea.

Price: Php  40
Table for: 1
Food Rating: 5/5

Madge Cafe

Tapsilog – lutong bahay (home-cooked)! This is definitely one of the best tapsilog I had. Really flavorful and perfect pair for the Media Regular Coffee.

Price: Php  70
Table for: 1
Food Rating: 5/5

Aside from these they also have Molo Soup, other silog dishes, bread, and other viands to choose from.

Definitely the best place to have your breakfast or merienda.

2. Tatoy’s Manokan and Seafoods – looking for the perfect place to enjoy lunch or dinner? Enjoy a variety of food from seafood, native chicken, and fresh kinilaw!

Lato (Seaweeds) – fresh seaweeds for starters!

Baked Talaba –  definitely the best baked talaba! They also have steamed talaba for those who want it.

Baked Talaba

Price: Php  220
Table for: 2 persons
Food Rating: 5/5

Native Chicken – one of the cons of having  Native Chicken is it being tough. But this one, on contrary, is soft and juicy. This is our first time trying this and we were surprised that the chicken’s head and feet are still intact.

3. Netong’s La Paz Batchoy – one must also not miss this place if you are in Iloilo. La Paz Batchoy originated here in La Paz, Iloilo — in La Paz Market to be exact. I am not a fan of Batchoy since the ones I have tried in Manila were too oily and salty for me . Surprisingly, I can finish a bowl here! Malinaman! The taste is very different from the ones I have tried in Manila.

Super Special Batchoy – generous meat serving with chicharon on top! Dining in at their original location inside the Public Market made the experience more authentic because of its ambiance and you also get to dine in with the locals. “Ito yung bathcoy na kahit mainit ang panahon e kakainin mo pa rin.”

And if you are the kind of person who loves soup, you can ask them for a refill and it’s for free! My free refill even comes with spring onions and chicharon. Yay!

Aside from the Super Special Batchoy, they also have Extra Special (Php 110)  and Mega Bowl (Php 130). The Extra Special has more toppings like the pig’s innards while the latter was served in a bigger bowl — basically, more of everything.

Being a true Pinoy that we are, you should pair your batchoy with some puto (Php 15)!

Currently, they have 2 branches — at Atria Bldg., San Rafael, Mandurriao and this one inside La Paz Public Market.
