Arroz Caldo with Shabu Shabu

This Arroz Caldo Is Overloaded With Not Just Your Usual Toppings!

Were not really supposed to order Arroz Caldo since my sister and I was craving Pad Thai Noodles and so was I since I hadn’t had one since the lockdown happened last year. We checked The Green Bowl in Lucena City on Facebook and saw that they do not only serve Pad Thai but also healthy meals, guilt-free salads, and of course, their Arroz Caldo. They actually have quite a lot on their menu so, make sure to check it out as well.

While looking at their menu, we first saw their salad menu where each item cost more than Php 200. We thought they were a bit expensive but as we continue to scroll down, we saw food items that cost less than Php 200. Actually, even for the price of Php 200+, they are still inexpensive considering that all their food is already good for 2-3 persons. For us, their serving size can actually feed up to 4-5 persons.

So, here’s what we ordered. Let’s talk about Pad Thai first.

Pad Thai – I was pleased with their packaging and presentation with the scrambled egg covering the noodles. There were lots of toppings when you remove the egg. There were tofu, shrimps, peanuts, bell pepper, and a bit of togue. I wish they have more togue on it though. As for the noodles, it was a bit soggy and overcooked to my liking but my parents like it since it was easier to chew. LOL. For the taste, I was looking for a more peanut-y taste and a bolder flavor — that Pad Thai’s signature sweet-savory flavor.

They gave us only one calamansi with that huge serving which was not enough. Good thing we have calamansi available at home. Might as well ask for more if you want to try this out.

Now, let’s talk about the highlight, The Green Bowl’s Overloaded Arroz Caldo.

Arroz Caldo Overload – were supposed to order 2 Pad Thai but good thing they informed us that the serving of their food is already good for 2-3 persons but it is a lot for us so, I would say it is good for 3-4 persons at least. The staff suggested that we try this and so we did.

The Arroz Caldo alone is rich in flavor, I think it is because of the saffron that they have added. And most importantly, it was indeed overloaded.  Didn’t see the poster of their Arroz Caldo posted on their Facebook account so, I was a bit surprised.

Arroz Caldo with Shabu Shabu

It has 2 eggs, chicharon, tofu, chicken, and assorted shabu-shabu toppings. I think I saw a crab leg, crab balls, and beef balls. This was a cool variation to our favorite Arroz Caldo and I really like that it has lots of toppings. There’s just only one thing, I would have been more pleased if they didn’t put the chicharon on top of it so that I can enjoy it crunchy. Nevertheless, might as well just request to serve it separately next time.

Tuna Wrapped in Tortilla – tortilla with lots of lettuce, really lots of lettuce. Love it! Tomatoes, onion, sour cream, and guacamole on the side and of course tuna. But unfortunately, there were fewer tuna than expected. It tastes good especially the guacamole on the side, really love it. But I wish there were more tuna. Rating it 4/5 since it does taste good but more tuna, please!!! I Will rate this 5/5 next time if they will do that.

Overall, I like their food. Well, except for their Pad Thai but would definitely order again next time especially their Overloaded Arroz Caldo! Would love to try other pasta dishes, tortilla wraps, and their salads next time.

Well, they also serve desserts like buko pandan and mango chia puddings, strawberry, apple, and blueberry muesli, and Mango Sticky Rice.

We had it delivered to our house which they arranged for us and cost us Php 80. They are also responsive on their Facebook page so you can order there directly or call them using the details below.
