Daegu Omma Restaurant: Korean Food Trip In Lucena City

On another series of “Korean Food Cravings,” we tried yet another small restaurant in Lucena City, this time the Daeuggu Omma Restaurant.

Daegu Omma’s Restaurant is located near SM so we’re able to drop by and pick-up our orders. They also deliver, charge to our location in Gulang-Gulang is Php 100. My sister was actually craving for Kimchi Stew that’s why she found this restaurant.

We ordered their Kimchi Jjigae, Samgyupsal Kimbap, and Kimchi.

Samgyupsal Kimbap – we weren’t pleased by the way they packed the kimbap in aluminum foil. Not that we think it was bad but rather since we have tried KoreYana’s Kitchen’s kimbap which was neatly packed in a microwavable container. The packaging also maintained its freshness and aesthetics.

The kimbap does not have a sauce which was surprising. Maybe they just forgot to add it? We don’t know but it definitely affected our overall experience. The rice to filling ratio was good but we are looking for more flavor. I also don’t like that they did not remove the pork’s skin. Maybe it would be better if the pork’s skin was soft and the kind that melts in your mouth but it’s not. It was rubbery. Another thing is, I don’t eat pork skin unless if it melts in my mouth or if it is crispy. Nevertheless, my sister and mom didn’t like it as well.

Samgyupsal Kimbap

As for the overall taste, it was pretty decent but we really do hope that they have a nice sauce that goes with it since it was a bit bland. Fairly good but we’re not buying it again.

Kimchi Jjigae – loaded with kimchi, tofu, and pork. Just like in the kimbap rolls, the pork’s skin was also tough. It was good but there’s a weird sour aftertaste. Or rather a bit sour to our liking. My sister reheated it and tried adding gochujang and it tasted better! I also added a few more kimchi since it was too soupy. It also tasted better after adding their kimchi.

Cabbage Kimchi – finally found a pretty decent kimchi! Would definitely buy this again since it is a bit hard to find good-tasting kimchi here. Also tried it on Kimchi Fried Rice and I love it!
