Where to Eat in Alabang

Pilar by Wakatatam para sa Matatakaw!

Looking for Filipino food down the South? Pilar by Wakatatam serves Filipino dishes that will surely make you drool, “matatakam ka sa sarap”.

For appetizers, they served us one of their specialty which, I am sure, you will also love.

Heart Attack – a trio of deep-fried chicharon bulaklak,(pork mesentery), chicken skin, and tofu served with Pilar’s secret sauce which I think is a combination of soy sauce and vinegar. Super love how they cooked it perfectly crispy! We all can’t stop munching on these.

Heart Attack

Price: Php 170
Table for: 3-4 persons
Food Rating: 5/5

If you have a specific favorite among the trio, you can have the Chicken Skin and Chicharon Bulaklak in a la carte for Php 115.

Aside from appetizers, they also have different types of soup from Pumpkin Soup, Tomato Soup, Chicken Sotanghon Soup, and Laksa.

Laksa – spicy red curry soup with coconut cream, vermicelli noodles, fried tofu, lobster/prawn balls, and bean sprouts. The soup wasn’t too spicy, it has the right kick of spiciness which complimented its savory soup.

Price: Php 290
Table for: 1 persons

Aside from the Laksa, they also offer this classic all-time Pinoy favorite.

Chicken Sotanghon Soup – vermicelli noodles with chicken strips in chicken broth. This classic Pinoy soup was surprisingly delicious! Not that I expected it to be bad but I expected it to be something I would not order outside since it is too ordinary like you can actually do this at home. But oh my! I love its rich and flavorful broth. I wish I can make Chicken Sotanghon this delicious at home!

Baked Salmon – 120 g salmon fillet baked with parmesan & garlic with alfafa on top, served with buttered veggies and mashed potato on the side. We all love the baked salmon and buttered veggies on the side. However, their mashed potato was firm since they did not add milk to make it creamy. It tastes good since it is pure mashed potatoes but I prefer the creamy ones.

If you prefer having this with rice, instead of mashed potato, you can do so for Php 380.

Bangus ala Pobre bangus (milk fish) belly served ala bistek tagalog. A flavor-rich bistek with the right amount of saltiness, tanginess, and sweetness.

Crispy Pata – crispy pork skin with soft and tender meat topped with savoury garlic and served with atchara and Pilar’s signature sauce. We love that this is already flavorful on its own even without dipping it in the sauce. Also, its skin maintained its crispiness even after some time.

Pork Chop with Chorizo Rice – deep-fried pork chop served with garlic rice with Chinese chorizo and sunny side up egg. The pork chop was a bit on the crispy side which I like and love the Chorizo Rice!
