Shakey's Burger Review

Shakey’s The Good And The Bad Burger, Is It Good Or Bad?

I was not really satisfied with my previous burger escapades that’s why I’ve been continually searching for “the one”.

Another foodie friend, @thepatkidinside posted this burger from Shakey’s Philippines. They released this last year but haven’t got the chance to try the meatless burger yet since I haven’t seen reviews that make me feel like it is worth it. I thought that it would be another typical meatless burger. It was until I saw my friend’s post where the photo used on their ad looks like the real thing. Looks worth it! So, I went on and ordered both The Good and The Bad Combo since they have an ongoing promo. Aside from that, I was a bit excited since I really love their Angus Burger Pizza and was hoping for it to be something similar.

Shakey's Burger

The Good Combo – taunted as “the good burger” uses UnMeat’s burger patty which is meat-free. It doesn’t have cheese but topped with vegetables – tomatoes, white onion, cucumber, and pickles served in a potato bun. Instead of regular mayonnaise, they used vegan thousand island dressing, and ketchup.

UnMeat’s burger is a plant-based patty made with soy proteins which was also the first vegan meat alternative brand in the Philippines. The burger was seasoned with spices making it flavorful. The burger does look like the photos on their ads except that it only has one piece of lettuce. I want more lettuce. Hehe. Also, surprisingly, we like this better than the Bad Burger! I also like the burger bun they used here since I can taste the sesame seeds.

And if wanted to indulge in a healthier burger version, you can swap the potato bun for a fresh lettuce wrap which you can get for the same price. The Good Combo already comes with Shakey’s House Blend Lemonade which is made with fresh lemons.

To think this is all for Php 199 since it was from Shakey’s, it is worth it. I will buy it again if ever I want to have a meatless burger.

The Bad Combo – while the first one was meat-free, this on the other hand was taunted as meat-full”. Made with juicy quarter-pound Angus beef blend patty, spiced and seasoned to make it flavorful as well. Served with melted cheese, classic thousand island dressing, ketchup, fresh lettuce, tomato, cucumber, white onion, and pickles inside margarine-toasted potato bun.

The Bad Burger

It may sound “just like your regular burger” but I really like how it looks the same as advertised too and it is actually flavorful! It may not have any twist that would make it stand out that much but I like it simplicity. Also, it was well-packed just like the Good Burger.

Since this is also a combo, it already comes with a milkshake of your choice. You can choose from vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry. I was surprised that the milkshake comes with strawberry wafer sticks just like how they serve it in store. You can also upgrade your drink to regular milktea with brown sugar pearls for an additional Php 50. Was supposed to get this but it was not available in our location.

If you are craving more meat, you can make it even meatier aka the Bad Bad Burger which doubles everything from patties, cheese, and bacon. Sounds meatier, indeed!

Price: Php 249
Table for: 1
Food Rating: 3.5/5

Overall, Shakey’s burgers were good. We like the Good Burger better than the Bad Burger and it’s a plus that it is meat-free. The Good Burger was actually more flavorful than the Bad Burger, surprisingly. I really like Shakey’s milkshakes so I did not have any second thoughts about ordering it. I hope they would make the milk tea available here in our location so that I can try it too.

Shakey's Burger Review

Ordered online through their Facebook page since their telephone number was busy. They responded after a few minutes and called me to confirm my order. Since I have a Shakey’s Supercard, the staff told me that I can get free Salted Skinny Fries. Yey! One of the benefits of cardholders. The fries were served with mayonnaise. I asked for ketchup but they forgot to add some but it’s okay. Delivery time took a while, not just 30 minutes. It took more than an hour but they informed me beforehand of their next delivery time maybe because of the quarantine. So, if you want to order, might as well order ahead of time. You can also order conveniently on their website if you want to.
