With the still-rising popularity of Korean dramas, Filipinos were quick to try cooking their own, or looking for food businesses serving anything they can see that their favorite K-drama actors were eating from ramen, pizza, corndogs, samgyupsal, and now, the Korean Egg Drop Sandwich!

Been wanting to try Egg Drop Mnl ever since they became viral last June and I was really surprised that they opened a branch here in our province, in Lucena! Thought I have to go all the way to Manila to try this out or have my sister bring this home to our province (like what we did in other food).

Sandwiches are not entirely new to us Filipinos since we sort of already have this kind of sandwich but with different bread and maybe with our favorite ketchup-mayo sauce. What sets the Egg Drop Sandwiches apart is its buttery golden-brown brioche bread, fluffy scrambled eggs, and the way they assemble the bread aesthetically making it IG-worthy. Not to mention that it makes us feel somewhat closer to our favorite Korean actors who love this too (especially those who love Hospital Playlist like me)!

I was happy and shookt when I received an invite from Egg Drop Mnl since I barely get invites whenever I am in Lucena (well, I got my first invite from Master Samgyup from my Saan Sa Ph friends and this is the 2nd one, technically first for Teybolforwan).

The owners were really nice and they let us try 4 of their bestselling sandwiches: Beef Bulgogi, Grilled Chicken Pesto, Double Bacon Cheese, and Hangover Sandwich.

Beef Bulgogi

Brioche with beef bulgogi, cheese, sunny side up egg, and their signature sauce.

I was not surprised that this is included in their bestseller. I, myself love beef bulgogi in everything and this is not an exemption. Love that savory, sweet, and salty taste of bulgogi well-combined with the egg, cheese, and their signature sauce. Plus the buttery brioche bread that you would love to finish all the way through!

Grilled Chicken Pesto

Brioche bread with grilled chicken breast, pesto, fresh lettuce, tomatoes, onion, cheddar, cheese, scrambled egg, and their signature pesto dressing.

This one is my 2nd favorite! I love pesto and I love how its flavor was very distinct on this sandwich (hindi basta lang may pesto, sobrang malasa siya). Also, if you are looking for a healthier type of sandwich, I think this one is it — chicken, pesto, and some veggies!

Double Bacon Cheese

Hangover Sandwich

A.K.A. Harley Quinn’s favorite. Brioche bread with gourmet ham, slices of bacon, cheddar cheese, sunny side up egg, and sriracha.

Can I ask for more sriracha? Well, the sriracha was enough to cover the bread but since I am such a big fan of it, I may ask for more next time. Yuummm!!!

A bit messy to eat because of the runny yolk but worth the mess!

I asked the Lucena Branch owner, Ms. Reina what are her favorites that aren’t on their bestsellers or the ones that she think are underrated and she mentioned these two: Garlic Bacon Cheese, and Crispy Fish Fillet.

Since these were recommended by the owner herself, we ordered them for take-out so that my family can also try them too (disclaimer: we paid for these ones).

Garlic Bacon Cheese

If you love garlic, you should try this one. This is like our favorite Baconsilog for breakfast but on brioche bread! And also leveled up with their signature sauce.

Crispy Fish Fillet

Brioche bread with fish fillet, fresh lettuce, tomatoes, onion, cheddar cheese, and ranch dressing.

It was nice that they have this fish option. Another healthier alternative to meat especially for those adults that should limit their meat intake and focus on white meat like fish and chicken. I ordered this for my mom since she is refraining from eating red meat. Perfect! Also, it was well-balanced with vegetables and ranch dressing. She told me that she loves the crispiness of the chicken fillet too.

If you are not much of a heavy eater, these Egg Drop Sandwiches will make you feel very full. The bread was big and loaded with filling!

You can basically choose anything on their menu based on your personal preference since everything we tried was all delicious. My top favorites are the Beef Bulgogi, Grilled Chicken Pesto, Hangover Sandwich, and surprisingly, their Garlic Bacon Cheese even though I am not much a fan of garlic.

Overall, I love all their Egg Drop Sandwiches! The staff were nice and accommodating to us. But since they are just a small food stall inside the mall, it would be better to order ahead of time to avoid waiting. I noticed that a lot of people dropped by and ordered online and preparation would really take some time, most especially if they have bulk orders! You can also order online using 3rd party delivery services to save you some hassle.

Storage and Reheating Instructions:

• If you’re planning to eat it for later, you can keep it in the refrigerator for up to 2 days to ensure quality.
• Reheat in the oven for 30 seconds at 200° or;
• In the microwave for 1 minute over medium heat.
