Honey Beef Rice

Old Yet New: The Honey Beef Rice!

Jollibee’s Honey Beef Rice has been all over my social media recently when they started out bringing it back again in selected branches in Luzon last August. Now, that it is available in all stores nationwide, people who had memories of this meal were quick to order to reminisce that ’90s experience. As for me, I am here trying out this “new menu” as I haven’t tried it before.

Jollibee Honey Beef Rice

Jollibee describes it as a sweet and savory rice bowl with tender beef strips and white onions. Also known as “sosyal na beef” at “hanep sa honey sauce”. Yes, it is somehow like our favorite Beef Steak (bistek).

True enough, the beef is really tender and I love the generous amount of white onions on top. The beef serving is quite generous too but the rice is quite a lot for the amount of beef. Well, if you are a heavy rice eater, this is perfect for you. The only downside of it having too much rice is that you can’t get enough sauce for the whole rice. And it wasn’t that saucy enough. Also, the sauce isn’t savory enough for me, and a bit bland for my taste. I prefer a stronger savory, sharper soy sauce flavor, and sweet flavor to balance it out. I also prefer that they make the sauce a bit thicker to also make up for the big rice serving.

Honey Beef Rice

With all the other food we’re able to try in the last 2 decades, I think it would be better for them to upgrade its flavor… Or maybe not since they wanted people from the ’90s to just reminisce that experience.

Price: Php 149
Table for: 1 (solo)
Food Rating: 3/5

It is also available in value meal (with drink) for Php 169, in family pan size for Php 825 which is good for 6 persons, and in bigger pan size, for Php 1,056 which is good for 8 persons. Prices vary from where you order. I ordered it via Foodpanda and their solo costs Php 160 and Php 186 for the value meal.

Honey Beef Rice

Well, overall though I might not order this Honey Beef Rice again, this is still something to try out since you don’t always see it on their menu.

By the way, I added a bit of oyster sauce and mixed it with the rice to enhance its flavor a bit.

Have you tried Jollibee’s Sweet & Chili Chicken? Check it out here. Also, Jollibee recently released Champ Jr., have you tried it yet? We bet it’s as good as their Champ!
