Southern Grind Bistro: More Than Just Ribs!

Southern Grind Bistro opened in BGC last April 2019 serving their famous 6-hour Hickory Smoked St. Louis Cut Premium Pork Ribs. They have a wide array of food selections from  appetizers, soup & salads, Southern Grind Signature Specials, Southern Grind Fusion, Mains, Platters, Premium Steaks, All-Time Filipino Favorites, All-Day Breakfast/Brunch,  Burgers, Po’Boy, and Sandwiches, vegetables and side dishes, desserts, coffee, juices, and alcoholic beverages. Name it! They all have it here that’s why it was a bit hard to choose from their lengthy menu. But we are glad that their staff here are very helpful and attentive to our needs.

Of course, we did not let the opportunity pass and tried their famous Hickory Smoked Premium Pork Ribs.

Wood Smoked USDA Premium St. Louis Cut Pork Ribs – a Southern Grind’s famous signature USDA premium cut spareribs, smoked for six-hour in a bistro box with a gourmet wood blend of cherry, mesquite, and hickory, served with sweet homemade bbq sauce and choices of sides — Southern Coleslaw, Buttered Corn and Cilantro, and Cajun Potato Fries. I like its flavor however, it could have been better if there is an additional sauce on the side. The meat was not the fall-off-the-bone type but at least the meat was tender. On another note, I super love their Southern Coleslaw! I would definitely have it as my side dish.

Chinatown Hot Wings – deep-fried chicken wings with sweet Asian sauce and toasted sesame. The chicken was perfectly crispy but I am not a fan of its flavor.  It was something new but I would have preferred if it was something close to the flavor of buffalo wings, maybe a sweet and spicy twist will do. The chicken was like veryChinese with all the flavors bursting in the chicken.  Well, at least they have achieved with what I think is supposedly the flavor of the chicken since, hello, it’s called Chinatown Hot Wings.

Shrimp and Sausage Jambalaya – Chef’s special cajun seasoned tail-on shrimps, andouille sausage, and capsicum served in a  skillet pan. Make sure to mix this right away since the dish was served hot and the rice at the bottom might get overcooked like what happened to ours since we did not mix it immediately.

Creole Style Chili Crusted Fish Fillet – flour-coated and pan-fried whole Cream Dory fillet with chili flakes, creole seasoning, and heavy cream served with cajun rice. This one was my favorite among all the dishes served to us. I super love the cajun rice and the overall taste of the fish. Just perfect!

Lemonade – normally I would not order any drinks but this one was refreshing enough for Php 45.

I highly recommend their Creole Style Chili Crusted Fish Fillet, the Cajun rice, and the Sothern Coleslaw. The rest is just average for me but they do have a lot of great deals that you might want to check out.
